The University Association for Administrative Development conferred awards to two of its members at the Annual Founder's Day Awards Luncheon, February 23, 2006. Vicki Highstreet, assistant director for instruction and staff development in the recreation center, received the Carl A. Donaldson Award for Excellence in Management and Linda Major, director of student involvement, received the Floyd S. Oldt Award for Exceptional Service to the University.

The Donaldson Award recognizes excellence in management. Selection criteria include communication and conflict resolution skills, promotion of teamwork, and skills in planning, delegating and decision-making as well as commitment to professional development. Vicki began her career at UNL in the University Health Center in 1981 and has been a part of the Campus Recreation staff since 1988. She is responsible for coordinating the planning, development, implementation and facilitation of campuswide academic recreational activity classes, as well as leisure (noncredit) activity classes. Other finalists for the Donaldson award were Ricardo S. Barrera, business manager for the University of Nebraska Beadle Business Center; Dan Floyd, director of shared computing services and the NCard Office; and Mary Werner, research analyst/assistant director for Institutional Research and Planning.

The Oldt award is given to a person who devotes significant time and energy in service to the university, shows creativity and innovation and unselfishly serves UAAD, his or her department and the community at large. Linda has an undergraduate degree in human relations and a master's degree in management and has more than 30 years of professional and volunteer experience in the substance abuse field. Prior to coming to UNL, she served in a variety of professional positions for the Lincoln Council on Alcoholism and Drugs (LCAD) including prevention director. Linda recently was recognized for her work in college-based programs by the American Public Health Association. She serves as co-chair of the Cather Circle Program Committee and as a United Way board member.
