UAAD Executive Board Meeting January 8, 2008 8:00 a.m., Alexander Building

Members Present: Jeanne Wicks, Tausha Armbruster, Dodie Eveleth, Marilyn Fenton, Jenny Gilmore, Helen Fankhauser, Cheryl Hassler, Valerie Lefler, Suzan Manthey, Anne Mulligan, Yoko Smith, Sue Walker, Ashley Washburn

I. Minutes from December meeting: Will approve at next meeting

II. Treasurer’s Report – Cheryl:
a.The board has received an additional $82 in dues since December. Our yearly income is $510.

II. Membership:
No Update

IV. Programs – Helen and Suzan:

• Founder’s Day is in February.
• UAAD will host its spring professional development event in March. Health and wellness will be the theme. Angie Frederick from Campus Recreation is a possible speaker.
• In April, a university leader will discuss legislative bills/happenings that could affect UNL. Jeanne will ask Suzan Poser to speak.
• The May picnic will be held at the patio area just north of the Lied Center (same location as last year). After the picnic, members may tour the Temple Building across the street.

V. Professional Development – Yoko

• Anne has an idea for a speaker that would complement the wellness focus of the March meeting.
• Yoko also has talked to Kelly Clark about doing a Gallup workshop.

VI. Social Consciousness –Dodie

• UAAD collected five bags of donations for the Friendship Home, including handmade items, hair accessories and CDs.
• At the January meeting, Dodie will collect donations of activity books for the Child Advocacy Center.
• There won’t be a project for the February meeting.

VII. Communications – Ranelle

• No update

VIII. Joint Meeting – Jenny

• Fifty-two people have signed up for the meeting.
• A check for the food is due within 30 days of receiving the bill.
• The tables will be decorated with white linens and alternating black and red napkins.
• Jenny needs printable nametags for the check-in table.

IX. Awards Committee/Founders Day

• Sue said nominations are still needed.
• Chancellor Perlman will be the speaker.
• Once the winners are selected, Sue or Tausha will order plaques, balloons and certificates.
• Tausha is sending the invites the week of January 7 or January 14.
• Lunch will be served buffet-style.

X. Other Issues

• The MLK Jr. Freedom Breakfast is January 18.
• The next chapter meeting is January 16 at the Champions Club.
• The next board meeting is February 5.
