UAAD Executive Board Meeting |
Members Present: Jeanne Wicks, Doni Boyd, Dodie Eveleth, Helen Fankhauser, Marilyn Fenton, Cheryl Hassler, Suzan Manthey, Sue Walker, Ashley Washburn
I. Minutes: Marilyn moved to approve the minutes from the November meeting. Helen seconded. Minutes were unanimously approved.
II. Treasurer’s Report – Cheryl:
a. The Board has $4,718.00 in assets. The Board needs to recruit only 60 more members to meet its membership goal for the year. Cheryl reported that we have $582.00 of income for the current year.
b. The banner has been re-printed.
III. Programs – Helen and Suzan:
a. Graze-and-Mingle: Suzan said approximately 50 people RSVP’ed for the event. Helen needed checks to pay for the keyboard rental and the musician’s time.
b. Sheila Keppler event: Suzan reported that many people had positive comments about the meeting.
c. Ideas for the March and April meetings: The board discussed two potential topics for the spring semester: wellness and the general direction of the university.
i. Suzan reported that she has met once with the Campus Wellness Committee. She suggested covering the wellness topic shortly after Chancellor Perlman unveils the new campus wellness plan. Potential speakers could include Angie Frederick from Campus Rec or the gentleman from the Athletic Department who spoke at UAAD’s “In the Know” workshop two years ago.
ii. Members also indicated interest in bringing in a university leader to discuss the vision for the campus and legislative topics of interest to faculty, staff and students. Marilyn suggested Michelle Waite from the Chancellor’s Office. Sue suggested Alan Moeller from IANR.IV. Professional Development – Yoko

V. Social Consciousness –Dodie
The board raised $171.00 for the Food Bank and donated a great deal of food to the Backpack Program. Lincoln Action Program has discontinued the Stocking Stuffers program, so donations from December’s meeting will go to the Friendship Home.
VI. Communications – Ranelle
Ranelle needs content for the January newsletter before the holiday shutdown.
VII. Joint Meeting – Jenny
Jeanne asked everyone to encourage their coworkers to attend.
VIII. Awards Committee/Founders Day
This event will be Feb. 26. Ranelle has placed a nomination form in the newsletter. She will run one E-News announcement in December and two more in January.
IX. Freedom Breakfast
Jeanne reported that four UAAD members will attend.
X. Other
The next meeting will be Jan. 8, 2008.
